Recycle Your Tires
Tire Recycling Starts Here
There are hundreds of Return to Retailer (R2R) locations to recycle your tires in BC. Most drivers return their old tires at a retailer when they purchase new ones. But if you have up to 4 tires (clean and off the rims*) sitting around, you can get started right away. TSBC recommends calling ahead to ensure the retailer still has space to accept your tires. And then you’re off to the recycling races and helping scrap tires become new and useful things.
Not sure what’s accepted? Check before you drop off.
* Please note that if a location accepts tires on rims, a fee will apply as rims are not part of the Tire Stewardship BC program.
If you are looking to recycle bicycle tires or tubes, please visit our Bicycle Tire Recycling page.
Tires Accepted in the R2R Program**:
- Passenger Tires – for passenger cars, SUVs, CUVs, and multipurpose passenger vehicles.
- Light Truck Tires – for consumer or commercial light trucks under 10,000 lbs.
- Small RV Tires – for small recreational vehicles (RVs).
- Temporary Spare Tires – marked with a “T” on the sidewall.
**Other tire types may be accepted; please contact the location in advance.
If you want to find recycling locations for other products, we recommend you use the Recyclepedia on the Recycling Council of BC website.
