The TSBC Community Grant Program - Tire Stewardship BC

Recycling begins and ends in your community. Together, we invest great resources to support recycling as a way to protect our environment and enhance the quality of life for ourselves and our neighbours. The TSBC Community Grant Program promotes the use and beneﬁt of recycled tire products, and, we can provide ﬁnancial support to communities that have decided to use recycled tire products for their projects. We’re all in this together!

Eligible Applicants

Not-for-profit organizations within the province of BC including: municipalities; registered non-profit community groups or organizations; schools/colleges/universities; First Nations and Métis settlements; etc.

Eligible Projects

A project that uses recycled tire products (e.g., rubber tile surfacing, pour-in-place surfacing) made in BC from BC recycled tires and is fully public and wheelchair accessible.
Projects include, but are not limited to, playgrounds, water parks or fitness areas, walkways, and running tracks.

2026 Application

Applications for the 2026 TSBC Community Grant Program are now open. Applications close on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the end of the day.

The application is submitted online through Google Forms. A free Google account is required to access and complete the form.
Successful applicants will be notified 4–6 weeks after the application closing date.

CATRA
CATRA (Canadian Association of Tire Recycling Agencies) is a group made up of all the tire recycling stewardships. Their goal is to continually enhance the eﬀectiveness of scrap tire diversion and recycling across the nation. BC Recycles
BC Recycles is made up of stewardships like TSBC. They’re responsible for the safe disposal of all products that are at their end of life. Their site is a one-stop-shop to help you learn more about recycling and what they do throughout the province.
First Nations Partnerships

TSBC is a member of the Indigenous Zero Waste Technical Advisory Group (IZWTAG), an Indigenous-led society dedicated to implementing environmentally responsible waste management in First Nations communities.

TSBC is also a founding member of the First Nations Recycling Initiative (FNRI). Managed by our friends at Recycle BC, this program is for First Nations communities interested in starting recycling programs. FNRI collaborates with Indigenous Services Canada and IZWTAG to increase access to recycling by BC’s First Nations communities.
The Artist Response Team
The Artist Response Team is a Vancouver-based group, headed by notable musicians Holly Arntzen and Kevin Wright, that specializes in entertainment that educates children about ecology. TSBC supports this fun group as they educate British Columbia’s young students about the environment. Maybe your school would benefit from their great education program which culminates in an incredible concert by the students?

Be Tire Smart Canada is is a program brought to you by the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada, a TSBC member organization. Be Tire Smart is the definitive resource for tire care and shopping tips to keep you safe, maximize the life of your tires, get better fuel economy and help the environment.
Extended Producer Responsibility
TSBC operates under a Stewardship Plan that is approved by the Extended Producer Responsibility branch of the ministry. In addition to ongoing oversight, the ministry provides invaluable support to staff in a variety of areas.
